Awesome day and it is only 1pm!!!....wikis and googledoc ideas all over the place. I also went to an iPad workshop that was incredible. We can ignore it but it will be taking over the instructional technology in the classroom. I watched a presenter put an iPad under a document camera and show one educational app after another. A classroom set of iPads and the world is open.
Oh, and the keynote speaker was Leigh Anne Tuohy (the movie Blind Side). She reminded us that we need to search for what is really inside of the student......recognize the full potential....find value in those society has deemed valueless.
Education topics: Instructional Technology for Classroom Teachers,Realistic goals in education, Best practices, Old vs New, and many more...
Welcome
Join me in discussing the use of technology in education.....what works for you, new tools for the classroom, methods of delivery using new tools, Web 2.0, and any other topics that pertain to Instructional Technology.

TCEA Day 1 Second Edition
Well, It is 11:52pm and I am finally winding down after a busy day. Here are a few other thoughts......
Did you know there is an app on the iphone for a remote mouse? I ran across it while I was preparing for my presentation. It worked with my wireless at home. I was able to turn the pages of my flipchart.
Has the whole world turned to ipads? I am one of only a few who doesn't have one at TCEA. Maybe I will win one. Everyone seems to be having a contest with the prize being an ipad.
A couple more sites:

http://www.aviary.com/ a Web 2.0 tool whose interface is very similar to Photoshop

TCEA Day 1
TCEA breathes life into me. It reminds me that I am an Instructional Technologist not a hardware technician. Many times I find sites that I have seen before but have forgotten about due to information over-load. Here are a few of them.
Let the students create a character and then blabberize it for the audio to go with the character.

Another comic creator to add to the list is http://www.makebeliefscomix.com/ http://www.readwritethink.org/classroom-resources/student-interactives/comic-creator-30021.html

Create a magazine cover using http://bighugelabs.com/magazine.php
Create trading cards using http://bighugelabs.com/deck.php

Plagiarism, Cryptomnesia and Collusion Detection Tool
Mighty big words I got from the site........This website http://www.doccop.com/
can be a teacher's best friend. It will find those students that like to copy and paste from the Internet and not exercise that great brain!! Unlike http://turnitin.com/static/index.php this one is free.

Sharing Promethean Flipcharts
Sharing your flipcharts with others can be a problem. When students are absent it would be nice for them to be able to view the lesson from home. They do not need all of the cute actions involved with the chart in the classroom, only the information. This can be done in several ways. Here is one way.
Make sure all of the pages in your flipchart have all of the information showing. Then PDF your flipchart. You can use one of the free PDF programs like Primo PDF. Once it is PDF'd you can then upload it to a slidesharing site like http://www.slideshare.net/ . The link to the uploaded file can then be sent to the parents or put on your webpage. The student can then view each page in your flipchart. If you have a blog Slideshare will also give you the code needed to embed the chart into your blog. That is how I put my flipchart "How the West was Promethean'd" into this blog.
